It’s not all doom and gloom here in See Jack Write land! I did just get back from an amazing vacation to Belize; spending seven days with friends and family relaxing on a beautiful island caye. Exotic wildlife, endless paddles, rum as far as the eye could see; this was the perfect escape from reality. I am already counting the days until I can make it back there.
While I was gone I had a few articles post - one details a very special birthday party for a very special dude.
I’ve know Josh Finch almost the entire time I’ve lived in Eugene. Soon after moving here I read an article about new publications that listed Finch as the editor of a zine called Exiled in Eugene. I asked him to meet for coffee and he obliged. We talked for a few hours and I was so glad I had met him, for he is one of the greats. Kind and funny, this dude works hard - from the zine to acting as head security at nightclubs, polishing his stand up comedy routine and playing in numerous bands. Next week he turns 30 and is throwing a big bash to celebrate. You can read about it here, in my piece that ran in the Eugene Weekly.
The other is one for my Poor Taste column detailing the secret behind three surprising relish recipes. Learn how to make chow-chow and more here.

I’m working on a lot more this week, in between daydreaming of my recent vacation. As my uncle Tim says - nose to the grindstone!
